100 photos that'll change your world - Ruby de Lanerolle
Warning: some of the photographs on the linked page may cause distress
TIME Magazine curated 100 moments in history captured on camera. From Hector Peterson to the Loch Ness Monster to the first X-ray. They show violence and hope, destruction and progression, icons and ‘nobodies’. They are a display of humanity - the horrifying, the seemingly trivial and the incredible. The excellence of this compilation is in its variety, but as the curators describe,
“What all 100 share is that they are turning points in our human experience”.
All of these photographs display the world at the moment they were taken but also changed the world from that moment onwards. I think they provide a brilliant “picture” of the last 189 years (from the first known photograph to 2015).
